Job Summary
Instructs students from diverse backgrounds and/or
cultures in Electric Utility Technology courses, develops
instructional materials including syllabi and course
assignments, evaluates current courses and participates in
the development and implementation of new courses and
programs. Maintain working knowledge of technology and
industry standards relevant to the subject area,
Integrates relevant technology into classroom teaching and
labs.
Essential Functions
Supervises and instructs students in a classroom and/or
lab setting.Develops written syllabi/course outlines and
course materials; evaluates knowledge of subject matter
taught and monitors students' scholastic records; prepares
and grades exams. Develops and enhances knowledge of
subject matter taught and individual training skills
required to remain current with new trends and
developments in the field through attendance at
conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops.
Maintains office hours to assist and advise students.
Participates in District wide and campus committees.
Minimum Qualifications
-A Masters degree in the teaching field, or A Master's in
any teaching field with 24 upper division and/or graduate
semester hours in the teaching field, or A Masters in any
teaching field with 18 graduate semester hours in the
teaching field
-A Bachelor's degree plus 3 years work experience in field
to be taught, or An Associate's degree or 64 semester
hours and 5 years work experience in the field to be
taught, or 5 years work experience in the field to be
taught
-EDU 250 - Overview of the Community Colleges-or
equivalent must be completed within two years of date of
hire
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Electric Meter Technician
course
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related
field
- Knowledge of EUT and OSHA safety regulations and
procedures
- Prior teaching experience at the secondary or post
secondary level
- Prior experience at the Journeyman level in Electric
Meter testing and repair experience
- Knowledge of single and three phase meters
Special Working Conditions
Instructional duties require the demonstration of Electric
meters, Meter test equipment and Meter testing. Requires
operation of hand tools and lifting heavy equipment and
objects weighing up to 75 lbs. Teaching assignments may
include teaching evening and/or weekend classes.
