Pennsylvania invites applications for a tenure-track,
Assistant Professor position starting Fall 2008. The
Department of Communication and Theatre offers bachelor s
degrees in Communication, Graphic Design (beginning Fall
2008), and Mass Communication (including degree emphases in
Broadcasting, Public Relations, and Journalism). Teach Oral
Communication and Organizational Communication related
courses and other Communication courses required by the
department s majors and minors and in the successful
candidate s area of interest. Position will collaborate with
colleagues in offering courses for department majors and to
support the university s general education program. The
successful candidate is expected to effectively teach four
courses (two or three preparations) each semester and advise
a diverse student population; undertake a regular research
program or other discipline-related scholarly activity
involving students as appropriate; make professional and
university service contributions; advance the Communication
degree at Mansfield University; and engage in continued
scholarly growth with student collaboration encouraged.
Excellence in teaching, continuing scholarly growth and
service to the university required for tenure/promotion.
Qualifications: Minimum requirement: Ph.D. in Communication
and evidence of effective college-level teaching experience
required. Experience in teaching Organizational
Communication and Oral Communication required. Preferred:
ability to teach some of the following courses:
Communication in Leadership Roles, Intercultural
Communication, Public Communication, Persuasion,
Communication Theory, Business and Professional
Communication, Health Communication, Oral Communication for
Reticent Students. Additional qualifications: completion of
a successful interview, which includes a teaching
demonstration; excellent communication skills
(verbal/written) including the ability to work
collaboratively with others; evidence of effective teaching;
and the ability to teach, evaluate, and advise students.
Candidates with a demonstrated interest in conducting
on-going research in the Communications field preferred.

Professor position beginning August 2008. The Department
of Social Work, Anthropology, and Sociology offers
bachelor's degrees in Sociology/Anthropology and Social
Work, as well as minors in all three disciplines and

Anthropology, Applied Ethnography, Introductory Physical
Anthropology and other Cultural Anthropology courses in
the successful candidate s area of interest that support
the Anthropology/Sociology major. Continue to develop
the Anthropology program and collaborate with department
faculty to support general education courses emphasizing
a global perspective. Teach four courses (three

18 months of hire required. ABD candidate must complete
the doctorate within 18 months of hire to continue in
the position. Qualifications include completion of a

including an ability to work collaboratively with
others; and the ability to teach, evaluate, and advise
students. Preferred: Ph.D. in Anthropology; evidence of

Nursing Faculty - Medical-Surgical.
Tenure-track Instructor, Assistant Professor, or
Associate Professor position beginning August 2008. An
appointment at the Associate Professor rank may be
considered for exceptionally well-qualified candidates.
The majority of courses will be taught at the Sayre, PA
campus, but some courses may be taught at the Mansfield
campus. The Mansfield University Nursing program is
accredited by the National League for Nursing
Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). Teach undergraduate
students in Medical-Surgical Nursing (classroom and
clinical); advise undergraduate students; and
participate in program, department, and university
committees. Possibility of also teaching online courses
for the Master s of Science in Nursing Graduate program.
The successful candidate is expected to teach
effectively and advise a diverse student population;
undertake a regular research program or other discipline
related scholarly activity involving students as
appropriate; make professional and university service
contributions; and advance Nursing at Mansfield
University. Minimum requirements: Doctoral degree or ABD
in Nursing or related field; Master s degree in Nursing
with graduate preparation in Medical-Surgical Nursing;
and three years clinical experience in Medical-Surgical
Nursing. ABD candidates must complete the doctorate
within 18 months of hire to continue in the position.
Additional qualifications: licensure or eligibility for
licensure from the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse
Examiners as a Registered Professional Nurse; excellent
communication skills (verbal and written); the ability
to teach, evaluate, and advise students; and completion
of a successful interview including a teaching
demonstration. If the successful candidate supervises
students in a clinical setting in New York, then
licensure from the New York State Board of Nurse
Examiners as a Registered Professional Nurse will be
required. The successful applicant must meet health
agency requirements by the start of employment including
immunizations or screening for: measles, mumps, rubella,
tetanus, diphtheria, hepatitis B, tuberculosis, and
varicella. Preferred: Doctoral degree in Nursing;
ability to effectively use technology in teaching and
scholarly activities; evidence of scholarly activities;
experience in college-level teaching and in supervising
clinical learning experiences; experience with cultural
differences; and experience teaching graduate-level
