DIRECTOR FOR MINORITY RECRUITMENT/ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS

The MIT Admissions Office seeks a director for minority recruitment/associate director of admissions to develop strategies and programs to increase undergraduate applications from, and enrollment of, under-represented minority students. Will oversee all related recruitment programs and develop and cultivate lasting relationships with community-based organizations throughout the country; serve on the admissions leadership team and as a senior admissions officer, participating fully in the admissions recruitment and selection process; and schedule and coordinate local and regional presentations, requiring several weeks of travel annually. Will report to the dean of admissions.

Requirements: a bachelor's degree and at least five years' experience working in college admissions or related field, with a focus on underrepresented minority issues. Master's degree a plus. Experience working with under-represented minority students and their families essential, as are strong presentation skills and the ability to work around sensitive issues. Must have experience supervising projects and people within a complex organization charged with multiple priorities and objectives. Seek analytical and strategic thinker who is able to work over sustained periods and possesses superior judgment and discretion. Regular evening and weekend work will be required. Must possess a driver's license and be available to travel by air several weeks annually.

The MIT Admissions Office seeks an assistant director of admissions for campus programs to provide strategy, direction, and oversight of all on-campus undergraduate recruitment activities. Will directly supervise and manage campus recruitment programs, including the admissions reception area, campus information sessions, and campus visit programs; collaborate with other directors in the planning and oversight of the Campus Preview Weekend yield event; read and evaluate freshman applications and serve on admissions selection committees; schedule, coordinate, and present regional information sessions throughout the country; participate as a member of the recruitment team and manage selective recruitment programs and activities; and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements: excellent project management skills and experience managing events and operations. Bachelor's degree and two to four years of experience working in college admissions or higher education preferred. Must possess good oral and written communication skills. Should demonstrate good judgment and discretion and be able to work over sustained periods.
Driver's license required. Regular evening and weekend work will also be required. There will be four to seven weeks of travel by air annually.

4 Technical Assistant Massachusetts Institute of Technology

The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard seeks a TECHNICAL ASSISTANT to provide analytical support for the development and implementation of LC-MS methods for use in chemical library purity assessment and purification as part of the Analytical Chemistry Group. Work will involve cross-functional collaboration with organic chemists, software engineers, and other institute members on a daily basis. Responsibilities include conducting bench-level experiments; operating and maintaining analytical laboratory instrumentation; preparing, ordering, and maintaining necessary reagents, solutions, and supplies; and data collection and analysis.

REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor's degree in chemistry or analytical chemistry and a minimum of one year of experience in a research laboratory or equivalent training and experience; proficiency in the operation of LC-MS analytical instrumentation; and knowledge of analytical instrumentation maintenance (LC, GC, MS, NMR) and organic chemistry. Familiarity with Waters' MassLynx software preferred. Strong analytical and communication skills required, as is ability to interact collaboratively with staff at all levels. Must be able to work independently and possess efficient organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment expected.

The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard seeks a TECHNICAL ASSISTANT to independently conduct and coordinate large-scale SNP genotyping and sequencing experiments for an array of cardiovascular disease projects as part of the Medical and Population Genetics Program. Will work within a cross-functional team of investigators, clinicians, and statisticians to analyze and interpret data from various genetic analysis technologies; facilitate process development and optimize sample preparation protocols for the group and collaborators in order to enable more effective project workflows; serve as technical lead for cardiovascular disease genotyping and sequencing projects, investigating the genetics of myocardial infarction, sudden death, and other correlated phenotypes; design and execute genotyping and sequencing experiments for cardiovascular disease projects, including project initiation, sample preparation, assay design, production tracking and data delivery; and perform other tasks as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor's degree and at least two years of relevant experience or a master's degree in biology or related field. Must have experience with genetic analysis technologies and methodologies and possess demonstrated ability to balance complex laboratory and project deliverables within prescribed timelines. Excellent communication skills required. Must be organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
