Dr. James Earl Lyons
has been named secretary of the Maryland Higher Education Commission. He is currently president of California State University-Dominguez Hills. Lyons holds a bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Angela Lintz
has been appointed director of higher education programs at the Level Playing Field Institute, a nonprofit organization promoting diversity in society. She holds an associate from Tacoma Community College, a bachelor’s from Smith College and a master’s and doctorate from the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Edward Chu
has been named deputy director of the Yale Cancer Center (Conn.). He is currently chief of medical oncology at the center. Chu holds a bachelor’s, master’s and medical degree from Brown University.

Andre Fischer
has been named dean of McNally Smith College of Music
(Minn.). The Grammy-winning producer previously served as production instructor for the University of Southern California’s music industry department and was a founding member and drummer for Rufus featuring Chaka Khan.

Dr. Annette Hutcherson
has been named director of the nursing program at Polk Community College (Fla.). She has been a faculty member at PCC for 17 years. Hutcherson holds a bachelor’s and master’s from the University of Mississippi and a doctorate from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Stanley Jackson
has been appointed senior vice president and chief of staff for the University of the District of Columbia. He was most recently director of the district’s department of community and housing development. Jackson earned a bachelor’s from the University of North Carolina at Fayetteville.

Thomas Mauriello
has been named vice president for advancement at Manhattan College. He was most recently vice president and chief development officer at the New York Institute of Technology. Mauriello holds a bachelor’s and master’s from Fordham University.

Dr. Laura McCloskey
has been named director of the Merrill Palmer Skillman Institute at Wayne State University (Mich.). She was most recently a professor at the University of Pennsylvania. McCloskey holds a bachelor’s from the University of Wisconsin, a bachelor’s from the University of Washington and a doctorate from the University of Michigan.

Dr. Lioba Moshi
has been named a University Professor at the University of Georgia. Only one faculty member can earn the designation each year. Moshi holds a bachelor’s and master’s from the University of Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania, a master’s from the University of York in England and a doctorate from the University of California, Los Angeles.
