DENVER
State Attorney General John Suthers says that the children of illegal immigrants can still qualify for in-state tuition at state colleges and universities as long as they are legal citizens themselves.

Suthers issued the opinion after researching the law at the request of state higher education chief David Skaggs. Skaggs was concerned that some schools were asking such students pay higher out-of-state tuition.

At issue were students who are under 23 and United States citizens and still claimed as financial dependents by their parents, who are in the country illegally.
