The seven schools are Allen University, Benedict College, Claflin University, Clinton College, Morris College, South Carolina State University and Voorhees University.

SCIII’s goal is to create institutes that provide funding, resources, and networking partnerships with business and philanthropic leaders.

In 2021, the state General Assembly appropriated $18 million for educational institutes at each of the seven schools, each institute established with focuses. SCIII strives to build pipelines from each institute to opportunities in state business and industry.

Jennings – who was president of Lincoln University and Alabama A&M University – has experience with matters such as capital campaign planning, program development, conference management, board optimization, and strategic communications oversight.
