An economist whose research centers on issues in education and local public economics, Hoxby is also a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research. She is also the director of the Economics of Education Program at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Hoxby attended Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship before receiving her doctorate in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She was Harvard University’s first African-American economics professor with tenure.
