Montana State University celebrated Indigenous Peoples’ Day in Bozeman on Monday, according to a report from KRTV in Great Falls, Montana.
More than 100 people attended the celebration, including Bozeman Mayor Cyndy Andrus who said the community should be safe and welcoming for students and others of all backgrounds.
The college, which was established 125 years ago on land where many tribes once gathered, currently has 776 Native Americans enrolled. College faculty and board members said Indigenous People’s Day is a movement, adding that they hope it is observed in the future.
