‘What if I Have COVID’: FSU Graduate Assistants Union Demands Stronger Health Protections

About 40 members of the FSU-Graduate Assistants United union and their supporters took to the steps of the Westcott Building Thursday, demanding the university provide more protection in the classroom against the spread of COVID-19.

A university spokeswoman, however, said new President Richard McCullough is ready to "make the appropriate accommodations for those who feel that they’re at risk in the classroom.”

Florida State opened fall classes on Monday operating under guidelines of the Board of Governors and Gov. Ron DeSantis, endorsing majority in-person teaching and allowing universities to send the message that they “expect” students to test for COVID and get vaccinated — but not making both mandatory.
