Journal: Implicit Bias Matters in Health Care

The #BlackLivesMatter movement arose almost three years ago on social media, prompted by what many saw as law enforcement’s unfair and biased handling of blacks. Substantial evidence also shows parallels of biased treatment within health care, limiting access and quality of care because of racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. We understand the problem better, but the notion of disparate care is not new.
