Conference Will Address Black Disparities

Improving health outcomes in the African American Community, that’s the goal of a first-of-its-kind conference next Saturday at U-B’s Medical School. The goal is to find solutions for some of the issues affecting our health, including housing, education, and employment. Experts from all over the country will be in town to start drafting community solutions to the issue.

The data from the African American Health Disparities Task Force shows infant mortality rates are three times higher than for whites and asthma rates are four times higher. And for African Americans living in certain zip codes, the risk of premature death is three times as likely!
