Upward Bound Gains New Funding

The federal government plans to make nearly 800 new awards under Upward Bound, a federal TRIO program designed to help students succeed in post-high school endeavors.

Application deadline is Dec. 13 for a Department of Education competition that has $264 million available. Colleges and universities, community organizations and faith-based groups are among those eligible to apply for funds.

Another $31 million is available for Upward Bound programs devoted solely to math and science.
