Dr. Karen Parrish Baker has been named associate professor of adult and higher education at Morehead State University in Kentucky. She was most recently an associate professor at Marshall University. Baker earned a bachelor’s from the University of Rio Grande, a master’s from Miami University of Ohio and a doctorate from The Ohio State University.
Dr. Peter A. Battaglia has been appointed vice president of instruction at Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Md. He was most recently vice president and dean of academic affairs at Reading Area Community College in Reading, Pa. Battaglia earned a bachelor’s from the State University of New York at Binghamton, a master’s from The Ohio State University and a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Dr. Tarlochan S. Dhillon has been named assistant professor of physics at Savannah State University. He received a bachelor’s from Panjab University in India, a master’s from Meerut University in India and a doctorate from the University of Texas-El Paso.
Christoph Guttentag has been named dean for undergraduate admissions at Duke University. He had served as director of undergraduate admissions at the university for the past 13 years. Guttentag earned a bachelor’s from University of California, Santa Barbara and a master’s from the University of Pennsylvania.
Cleveland James has been named director of admissions at Central State University in Ohio. Most recently James served as associate director of admissions at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He earned a bachelor’s from Johnson C. Smith University and a master’s from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Dr. Tan Phan is the new articulation officer and research specialist at Columbia College in California. Most recently she served as assistant professor of education at San Diego State University. Phan earned a bachelor’s from St. Mary’s University, a master’s from Dalhousie University and a doctorate from the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Gregory Pogue has been appointed associate vice president for human resources at the University of San Diego. Previously, he served as assistant vice president for human resources at California State University, East Bay. He earned a bachelor’s from Nichols College, a master’s from Wagner College and a doctorate from the University of Sarasota.
Dr. Muriel E. Poston is the new dean of the faculty at Skidmore College in New York. She comes to Skidmore from Howard University and the National Science Foundation, where she was a program director. She earned a bachelor’s from Stanford University, a master’s from UCLA and a law degree from the University of Maryland.
Dr. Richard Tapia has been promoted to Rice University’s highest academic title, University Professor. An award-winning mathematician, Tapia was the first Hispanic named to the nation’s highest scientific governing body, the National Science Board. Tapia received his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from UCLA.
Travis Tucker has been named assistant director of the Ethics and Spirituality in the Workplace program at the Yale Center for Faith and Culture at Yale Divinity School. He earned his bachelor’s from the University of Virginia and his master’s from Bowling Green State University. Tucker is currently completing his doctorate at Yale.
Stephanie Vaughn has been appointed director of the Stetson University Tampa Law Center. Most recently she was serving as acting director of legal research and writing at Stetson. Vaughn earned her bachelor’s from the University of Alabama and a law degree from Stetson.
Jane Ann Williams is the new director of education and training for multicultural affairs at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She was most recently director of professional programs at Mercer University in Georgia. Williams earned a bachelor’s from Virginia Tech and a master’s from the University of Baltimore.
