Leander High graduate earns scholarship to purse biomedicine

Paul Gonzales, a 2009 Leander High School graduate, was one of 27 scholarship recipients honored Aug. 11 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin.  According to Community Impact Newspaper, St. David’s Neal Kocurek Scholarship Fund gives graduating high school seniors in Central Texas $4,000 per year for four years, to pay tuition at Texas universities and colleges.

Gonzales will attend the University of Texas at Austin to major in biomedical engineering. He volunteers at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center and was president of the National Honor Society. Paul also helped organize several blood drives and school health fairs.
