Twitter in Higher Education: More Than 30 Percent of Faculty Say They Tweet

While many college students are using social networking Web sites like Facebook and Twitter, faculty are also taking advantage of these sites.  According to AHN Media, Twitter has become quite a phenomenon for people of all ages and all types across the world, but many have raised an issue with some using twitter during academic settings. Faculty Focus, a Web site dedicated to higher-education professionals, announced the results this week for a survey evaluating Twitter usage and trends among college faculty. The survey was conducted in July and August and encompassed around 2,000 education professionals, with the results showing that about one-third of the 1,958 respondents have used Twitter in some way. About half of those surveyed said they have never used Twitter.
