R. CHARLES BYERS has been appointed interim provost and vice president for academic affairs at West Virginia State University (WVSU). He previously served as university provost and vice president for academic affairs until retiring in 2014. Byers earned a bachelor’s degree from WVSU, a master’s degree from The Ohio State University and a doctorate degree from Kent State University.
