ASSATA ZERAI

ASSATA ZERAI has been appointed vice president for equity and inclusion at the University of New Mexico, effective August 2019. She currently serves as associate provost for faculty excellence and a professor of sociology at the University of Illinois. Zerai earned a bachelor’s degree from Anderson University and a master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
