Shannon Mathews SHANNON MATHEWS has been appointed dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of La Verne in La Verne, California. Matthews most recently served as dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and professor of social and behavioral sciences at Savannah State University in Georgia. Mathews holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Pomona College as well as a master’s degree in medical anthropology and a Ph.D. in gerontology from the University of Kentucky.
