Kentucky State President Sues Newspaper

Frankfort, Ky
Kentucky State University president, Dr. Frank Reid, filed a lawsuit recently against a Frankfort daily newspaper The State Journal, claiming he has been defamed by the news-
paper’s reporting of charges he faked some of his academic
credentials.
According to Reid’s attorney, Thomas E. Clay, the defamatory information, from a report that was prepared by a disgruntled professor, has been proven to be false and defamatory.
The State Journal said that it would be asking for a quick
dismissal of the libel and defamation action.
In October, the Journal published information from the report — alleging Reid took credit he did not deserve for some academic papers when he was at the University of Cincinnati — that it
obtained through an open-records request as part of its coverage of controversy over Reid’s
credentials.
