Professional Appoitments

DR. LORI BETTISON-VARGA has been appointed president of Scripps College (Calif.), effective July 1. She is currently provost and dean of the faculty at Whitman College. Bettison-Varga earned a bachelor’s from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a master’s and doctorate from the University of California, Davis.

ROXANNA JOKELA is director of alumni relations at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She formerly served as interim director of alumni relations. Jokela earned a bachelor’s from Saint Cloud State University and a master’s from the University of Colorado Graduate School of Business in Denver.

DR. VICTORIA JONES is diversity officer vice president at Apollo Group, Inc., the parent company of the University of Phoenix. She previously served as dean of the College of Leadership at General Motors University. Jones earned a bachelor’s from Marygrove College, an MBA from Central Michigan University and a doctorate from the University of Phoenix.

FESTUS MOGAE, former two-term president of Botswana, has been named President- in-Residence at Boston University’s African Presidential Archives and Research Center. He earned a bachelor’s from Oxford University and a master’s from the University of Sussex in England.

DR. MICHELLE MOODY-ADAMS is dean of Columbia College at Columbia University (N.Y.). She most recently served as vice provost for undergraduate education at Cornell University. Moody-Adams earned a bachelor’s from Wellesley College, a bachelor’s from Oxford University, and a master’s and doctorate from Harvard University.

DR. DANIEL RAHN has been named chancellor of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He previously served as president of the Medical College of Georgia. Rahn earned a bachelor’s and medical degree from Yale University.

DR. LARRY ROBINSON has been appointed vice president for research at Florida A&M University. He previously served as a professor in the Environmental Sciences Institute at FAMU. Robinson earned a bachelor’s from Memphis State University and a doctorate from Washington University.

GREG SAKS is vice president of university advancement at California State University, Dominguez Hills. He most recently served as interim vice president at the university. Saks earned a bachelor’s from CSU San Bernardino and a master’s from Miami University of Ohio.

ADRIANNE C. SMITH has been named executive director for the Center for Excellence in Advertising at Howard University (Washington, D.C.). Smith previously served as partner of AdHere Network, an affinity/relationship marketing and video production firm. She earned a bachelor’s from Spelman College.
