Furloughs loom as CSU works on budget cuts

After absorbing state funding cuts of more than 12 percent for the fiscal year ending June 30, Columbus State University President Tim Mescon and his management team spent the weekend looking for ways to get more out of a nearly $80 million annual budget.

According to The Ledger-Enquirer.com, Gov. Sonny Perdue has ordered all state agencies to prepare plans for 4, 6 and 8 percent cuts. The state is also withholding 5 percent of the agencies’ funding.
