BALTIMORE — The president of Morgan State University gets to keep his job for another year.
The university’s Board of Regents reversed course during a lengthy meeting on Friday and voted to extend David J. Wilson’s contract for another year.
The board had voted earlier this month to not renew Wilson’s contract when it expired in June. Students rallied in his support and Wilson also enjoyed the backing of some prominent community leaders.
Board members have not explained their sudden decision to extend the contract, nor have they revealed why they earlier sought to end his tenure at the school.
Wilson, who was selected as president two and a half years ago, said only that there had been communication problems with the regents but did not elaborate.
