TUCSON Ariz. — Pima Community College may give in-state tuition breaks to students who qualify under the federal government’s deferred-deportation program.
The Arizona Daily Star ( https://bit.ly/Vg10AF) reports that the college’s governing board will consider the matter on Feb. 27.
Arizona residents who are full-time students at Pima now pay 63.50 per credit-hour. Nonresidents pay $319 per credit-hour.
The Maricopa County Community College District in the Phoenix area already provides in-state tuition discounts to students issued federal work permits under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
The program is for illegal immigrants who were brought to the United States as children and who have no felony convictions.
