Bowdoin to Cover Education Costs for Slain N.Y. Police Officer’s Son

BRUNSWICK, Maine ― Maine’s Bowdoin College is going to cover the education costs of a student whose father was one of two New York City police officers gunned down over the weekend.

The college in Brunswick tweeted on Monday that it will provide “full financial aid to enable son of slain NYPD officer to complete his Bowdoin education.”

Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were killed in their patrol car in Brooklyn on Saturday. The gunman took his own life.

The New York Yankees already stepped up with an offer to pay the education of Justin Ramos and his younger brother.

Bowdoin President Barry Mills said that’ll be unnecessary for Ramos as long as he remains a student at Bowdoin. He urged people to respect the family’s privacy.
