Dr. KerryAnn O’Meara will become vice president for academic affairs, provost, and dean of the college at Teachers College, Columbia University, effective Jul. 5.
O’Meara is currently professor of higher education, a distinguished scholar teacher, and special assistant to the provost for strategic initiative at University of Maryland (UMD).
“KerryAnn O’Meara is an esteemed scholar and expert on the development and implementation of organizational practices that empower and support faculty diversity and inclusion, and strengthen institutions overall,” said TC President Dr. Thomas Bailey. “Dr. O’Meara’s leadership and expertise will be instrumental in helping the Teachers College community achieve new heights of academic excellence and social impact for the future.”
O’Meara was also a 2021-2022 American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow and president of the Association for the Study of Higher Education in 2020.
An expert on faculty affairs and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), O’Meara’s scholarly research includes matters of faculty careers, academic rewards systems, organizational practices, and women and minoritized faculty in higher ed.
O’Meara holds a B.A. in English literature from Loyola University in Maryland, an M.A. in higher education from Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. in education policy at the University of Maryland.
