JEERS . . . to the more than 800 vocational programs nationwide that graduate students with excessive student-loan burdens based on the salaries they’re able to earn, according to U.S. Department of Education documents released Monday. The education department’s poor grades place these programs at risk of losing federal financial aid funding.
The department reviewed nearly 8,700 non-degreed career-training programs that offered certificates in everything from accounting to writing. It found that nearly 10 percent graduated students whose annual loan payments were more than 12 percent of their total post-college salaries, higher than the federal standard.
