TOP DEVOS ADVISER DEFENDS FOR-PROFIT COLLEGE WORK, OUTLINES REGULATORY PLANS: Diane Auer Jones, a top adviser to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, on Monday pushed back against criticism of her work on behalf of for-profit colleges, saying her record had been unfairly distorted by the press. Jones acknowledged that her appointment has been “controversial” but blasted what she said was a “character assassination” that underplayed the breadth of her experience in higher education.
