Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin Removes Hundreds of Pentagon Advisory Board Appointees

Anthony Tata, former Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, is among many Pentagon advisory board appointees who have been removed under newly-nominated Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s jurisdiction, Reuters reported.

Tata, who previously referred to President Barack Obama as a “terrorist leader,” was nominated as a member of the Defense Policy Board Jan. 19.

Across the 42 boards, hundreds of members are expected to leave by Feb. 16. However, President Donald Trump’s former aides Sean Spicer and Kellyanne Conway will remain in their positions, according to Reuters.

“There is no question that the secretary was deeply concerned with the pace and the extent of recent changes to memberships,” an anonymous official told Reuters. “It gave him pause to consider the broad scope and purpose of these boards.”
