Indiana Urges Aid for Railroad Training

INDIANAPOLIS — Led by state Rep. Chuck Moseley, D-Portage, the Indiana General Assembly is asking Congress to permit Hoosier military veterans to use their education benefits for railroad conductor training.

Federal law currently requires employment skills courses be at least 26 weeks long for veterans to receive on-the-job training stipends.

However, all railroad conductor programs offered in the state only last 14 to 22 weeks, according to the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs.
