UMass-Boston to Sign Deal Linking With Two-Year College

BOSTON
Atwo-year college for low-income, non traditional students recently signed a deal that will allow its graduates to transfer directly into the University of Massachusetts at Boston.
The Urban College of Boston is a community-based college in a partnership with Action for Boston Community Development Inc., an anti-poverty agency. Of the school’s 700 students, 78 percent are minorities, 93 percent are women, and 86 percent work full time.
The school only offers classes at night and on
weekends.
Under the agreement, students who complete the college’s associate of arts degree will be allowed to transfer directly into UMass-Boston’s College of Public and Community Service as juniors, said a spokeswoman for the Urban College.
Urban College signed similar agreements with Lesley University and Wheelock College last year.
