Professional Appointments

Karen Gross has been named president of Southern Vermont College. She had previously been a professor at New York Law School. Gross holds a bachelor’s from Smith College and a law degree from Temple University.

Dr. Marcela Katz Armoza has been appointed vice president of enrollment and student affairs at New York City College of Technology. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of the Social Museum in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She also holds a MPA from Baruch College and a doctorate from the University of Wales, Cardiff.

Glenn Baker has been appointed executive vice president and chief financial officer for the Art Center College of Design (Calif.). He holds a bachelor’s from the United States Air Force Academy and a master’s from the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Charles L. Brown has been appointed vice president for student affairs at Florida Atlantic University. He was most recently vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of South Florida-St. Petersburg. Brown earned a bachelor’s from Blackburn College and his master’s and doctorate from Illinois State University.

Cheryl Bailey Gittens has been named director of the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program at Virginia Polytechnic and State University. She was most recently director of the health careers opportunity program at Northern Virginia Community College. Gittens earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Rutgers University.

Dr. Eboni C. Howard has been appointed director of the Herr Research Center for Children and Social Policy at the Erikson Institute (Ill.). She had previously been a researcher at the institute. Howard earned a bachelor’s from the University of Chicago and a doctorate from Northwestern University.

Victor LeBlue has been named dean of DeVry University’s newly opened Inland Empire campus in Colton, Calif. He earned a bachelor’s from California State University-Dominguez Hills and a master’s from the University of the Redlands.

Brig. Gen. José D. Riojas has been named vice president for strategic initiatives at the University of Texas at El Paso. He recently retired from the U.S. Army after 30 years of service. Riojas is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Dr. Debra Saunders-White has been appointed vice chancellor for the information technology systems division at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. She holds a bachelor’s from the University of Virginia, a MBA from the College of William and Mary and a doctorate from George Washington University.
