Dr. Jack Scott, a Democratic California state senator, has been named chancellor of the California Community College System. Currently, he serves as chairman of the Senate Education Committee and will assume his new post in January 2009. Scott holds a bachelor’s from Abilene Christian College, a master’s from Yale University and a doctorate from Claremont Graduate University.
DR. SHAHID ANSARI has been named dean of faculty at Babson College (Mass.). He is the Zwerling Term Chair Professor of Behavioral and Managerial Accounting at the college. Ansari earned a bachelor’s and master’s from the University of Karachi in Pakistan and a doctorate from Columbia University.
DR. LOREN BLANCHARD has been named senior vice president for academic affairs at Xavier University of Louisiana, effective July 1. Blanchard earned a bachelor’s from Xavier, a master’s from McNeese State University and a doctorate from the University of Georgia.
DONNA LEE has been named vice president for student life and dean of students at Agnes Scott College (Ga.). Currently, she is dean of student affairs at Rollins College in Florida. Lee earned a bachelor’s from The University of Tampa and a master’s from Boston University’s overseas program in Augsburg, Germany.
MARTA MIRANDA has been named director of multicultural affairs at Eastern Kentucky University. She also serves as an associate professor of anthropology and social work and director of women’s and gender studies at the university. Miranda earned a bachelor’s from Florida International University and a master’s from Barry University.
KRISTA TILLMAN has been named dean of Hayworth College for Evening Undergraduate Programs at Queens University of Charlotte (N.C.). Previously, she served as president of BellSouth Corp.’s North Carolina operations. Tillman earned a bachelor’s and master’s from Georgia State University.
DR. COSTAS TSATSOULIS has been named dean of the College of Engineering at the University of North Texas, effective Aug. 1. Currently, he serves as chair of the Department of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Kansas. Tsatsoulis earned two bachelor’s, a master’s and a doctorate from Purdue University.
DR. JENNIFER WADE-BERG has been named Kennesaw State University’s (Ga.) first chief diversity officer, effective July 1. She currently serves as an assistant professor of nonprofit and public management at the University of Colorado at Denver. Wade-Berg earned a bachelor’s from Wesleyan University, and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Georgia.
DR. JULIE WONG has been appointed vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Currently, she serves as associate vice president and dean of students at the University of Texas at El Paso. Wong holds a bachelor’s from San Jose State University, a master’s from Michigan State University and a doctorate from the University of Southern California.
