Marshall Rose Voted New President of AAAED

The membership of the American Association for Access, Equity and Diversity (AAAED) has selected Marshall Rose of Toledo, Ohio, as its president. Rose had been a regional director of the association, representing states in the Midwest that included Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin.

AAAED was founded in 1974 as the American Association for Affirmative Action. It is a national not-for-profit association of professionals working in the areas of compliance and diversity, providing professional training to members and promoting understanding and advocacy of affirmative action and other equal opportunity and related compliance laws and regulations.

Others voted to national leadership roles include: First Vice President, Myron Anderson, Ph.D., the associate to the president for diversity and assistant professor of education technology at Metropolitan State University of Denver; Second Vice President, Carmen Suarez, Ph.D., who works for the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, as the chief diversity officer and associate vice provost for student affairs at the University of Idaho; Treasurer, Dean Sparlin, Esq., of Sparlin Law Office in Fairfax, Virginia, and Board Secretary, Sharron Gatling, assistant director of equal opportunity in the Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity at The College of William & Mary.

The new officers’ terms, which began on July 1, end in 2016.
