During her career with the University of Texas, Natalicio has served as vice president for academic affairs, dean of liberal arts, chair of the Modern Languages Department and professor of linguistics. She chairs the board of the American Council on Education and serves on the Rockefeller Foundation board of trustees. Appointed in 1994 to the National Science Board by President Bill Clinton, she served three two-year terms as vice chair.
