Meyers is the 10th president of Jackson State University and a professor of civil and environmental engineering. She is the former president of Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Va. Meyers was also a tenured faculty member at the Georgia Institute of Technology and the first associate dean for research in its College of Engineering. She is a fellow in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and a board member of the American Council on Education.
