Harris Perry Melissa
Professor of Political Science, Tulane University

Host of her eponymously named show on MSNBC, Harris-Perry teaches political science at Tulane University. Her academic research is inspired by a desire to investigate the challenges facing contemporary Black Americans and to better understand the ways that African-Americans respond to these challenges. In 2009, Harris-Perry became the youngest scholar to deliver the W.E.B. Du Bois Lectures at Harvard University. That same year, she delivered the prestigious Ware Lecture at the Unitarian Universalist Association, becoming the youngest woman to ever do so.
