Dr. Kakakli Bhattacharya received an honor this spring that demonstrated her hard work and commitment to sound scholarship. She was promoted to full-professor at Kansas State University. Bhattacharya took to social media to share the good news. With research interests focusing on the social foundation of higher education in the U.S., gender, race, and ethnic studies in education, Bhattacharya emerged as a rising star several years ago. She started her teaching career at the University of Memphis, before landing a position at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi. In 2013, she began work at Kansas State University. Having earned a Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Georgia, she now teaches qualitative and research focused courses.
