Dr. Wayne A. I. Frederick is the interim president of Howard University. Previously, he was provost and chief academic officer, overseeing the university’s 13 schools and health sciences enterprise. A surgeon who earned three degrees from Howard, Frederick is a respected researcher who has focused on health disparities, with a particular emphasis on cancer outcomes among African-Americans and other underrepresented groups. Frederick was named a “Super Doctor” by The Washington Post and listed on Ebony Magazine’s Power 100 in 2010.
