Dr. Debra McCurdy will assume the role of president of Baltimore City Community College (BCCC) this spring after serving as president of Rhodes State College in Ohio for the last 11 years.
McCurdy will succeed interim president Dr. James H. Johnson, Jr. in Spring 2019 as the college is working to boost enrollment and graduation rates and forge connections with the business community, according to the Baltimore Sun.
“There is a wonderful support for a new president coming in and how do we make a difference for these students,” McCurdy said. “There is a huge expectation and focal point on workforce development.”
Prior to her leadership at Rhodes State College, McCurdy served as provost and chief operating officer at Georgia Perimeter College. She has also worked as assistant and associate provost at Clark Atlanta University.
She holds a bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree from Bowling Green State University.
