Dr. Kimetris N. Baltrip has been named assistant professor of journalism and mass communications at Kansas State University and news adviser to the K-State Collegian, the university’s daily newspaper. She is a former copy editor for The New York Times. Baltrip earned a bachelor’s from Prairie View A&M University, and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Akron.
Dr. James N. Canonica has been appointed dean of students at Camden County College in Camden, N.J. Most recently he was the director of academic advising at the Community College of Philadelphia. Canonica earned a bachelor’s from Philadelphia University, a master’s from the University of Pennsylvania and a doctorate from Wilmington College.
Dr. Eileen J. Cheng has been named assistant professor of Chinese at Pomona College in California. She had been a visiting professor at the college since 2003. Cheng earned a bachelor’s, master’s and a doctorate from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Dr. Steven Edmond has been named dean of the newly formed School of Business and Technology at Huston-Tillotson University in Texas. He previously served as professor of international business and accounting at the school. Edmond earned a bachelor’s from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, a master’s from Texas Southern University and a doctorate from the University of Sarasota.
Dr. Monair J. Hamilton has been appointed assistant professor of health promotion at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C. She earned a bachelor’s from York College of the City University of New York (CUNY), a master’s from CUNY Hunter College and a doctorate from Kent State University.
Dr. Janice Harper has been appointed assistant vice chancellor for university programs at North Carolina Central University. She had been serving in this position on an interim basis. Harper earned a bachelor’s and a master’s in education from NCCU and a doctorate from Southern Illinois University.
Dr. Lorna H. Harris has been appointed chair of the department of nursing at North Carolina Central University. Previously she was dean of the School of Nursing at North Carolina A&T State University. Harris earned a bachelor’s from North Carolina A&T, and a master’s and a doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Brian Jensen has been named special programs counselor at Columbia College in California. Most recently he served as an adjunct professor at the College of Marin in Kentfield, Calif. Jensen earned two associate degrees from the College of Marin, a bachelor’s from Dominican University of California, a master’s from Sonoma State University and a doctorate from the Southern California University for Professional Studies.
Dr. Fernando Antonio Lozano has been named assistant professor of economics at Pomona College in California. Prior to his appointment he served as a lecturer in economics at the college. Lozano earned a bachelor’s from the University of San Diego and a master’s and doctorate from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Dr. Richard L. Lucas has been named vice chancellor for institutional advancement at Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina. Most recently he was associate vice president for advancement at Howard University. Lucas earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Dr. Linda L. Thomas has been named associate dean for student development at the University of San Francisco. Previously she was an associate dean of students at Bucknell University. Thomas earned a bachelor’s from Tougaloo College and a master’s and doctorate from Washington State University.
Monica G. Williams has been named associate vice president for development at Prairie View A&M University. Most recently she served as director of development at the university. Williams earned a bachelor’s and master’s from Texas Southern University.
