EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.
The faculty senate at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville wants the system’s president to resign over plagiarism claims.
The senate asked Glenn Poshard to step down in a statement today citing “his continued tendency to make unacceptable excuses for his plagiarism.”
The group claims Poshard’s 1984 doctoral dissertation is full of “flawed scholarly craftsmanship.”
Last month, the group voted overwhelmingly in favor of a resolution requesting Poshard to resign.
But a faculty review panel in Carbondale ruled last month that Poshard’s dissertation from that school included “inadvertent or unintended” plagiarism.
That group recommended that Poshard fix the dissertation’s citations using current standards.
