HILLSBORO, Ohio — Faculty members at Southern State Community College have taken the first step toward a possible strike.
Faculty member Bill Horne said a 38-0 vote Monday starts the process that could lead to a strike if the situation comes to that. He said there are 49 faculty members.
“In order to strike, you have to go through a whole lot of steps,” said faculty member Bill Horne. “I hope we don’t have to do that.”
Trustees have cited their willingness to continue negotiations, board president Paul Hall said.
Faculty members have been working under the previous contract since Sept. 1.
“We are perfectly willing to sit down and work out these problems,” said Lauren Ross, the board’s lawyer. “We’re not going to stonewall them. We have closed no doors.”
