Dr. Juan E. Gilbert is a professor and chair of the Human-Centered Computing Division in the School of Computing at Clemson University. He was named one of the 50 Most Important African- Americans in Technology by eAccess Corp. Gilbert wants to combat the notion that STEM careers are boring and not suited for African- Americans. Gilbert and his team are working to develop an electronic voting system that offers people the ability to vote independently and privately using touch or voice recognition technology.
