Harvard Law Professors Blast Sex Assault Policy

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) – More than two dozen current and retired Harvard Law School professors, including Alan Dershowitz, are asking the university to abandon its new sexual misconduct policy because they say it violates the due process rights of the accused.

Dershowitz calls the policy “political correctness run amok.”

The law professors say the policy lacks “the most basic elements of fairness and due process.”

Their concerns were published in an article posted on The Boston Globe website Tuesday.

The group is calling for the Ivy League school to come up with new rules.

Harvard in a statement defended the policy enacted this fall, saying it was crafted after a two-year review of practices and guidelines and is “an expert, neutral, fair, and objective mechanism for investigating sexual misconduct cases involving students.”
