Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pa., received $5 million from the Arcadia Foundation. It is the largest single gift in the 134-year history of the college.
Indiana University in Bloomington has received a $105 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. to conduct research in the field of genomics research under the Indiana Genomics Initiative. This is the largest single grant ever received by the university and largest single gift awarded by the Lilly
Endowment.
Ten investigators at North Carolina A&T State University, the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Duke University and Stanford University have been awarded a five-year, $7 million information technology research grant for their collaboration “Computational Geometry for Structural
Biology and Bioinformatics.”
Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Ala., received $10,000 from Michelin North America for scholarship grants for Stillman students.
The University of Minnesota’s department of astronomy received $5 million from Hubbard Broadcasting Inc., to purchase a share in a powerful telescope now under construction in Arizona.
Wake Forest University in North Carolina received $4 million from an anonymous donor to create a scholarship fund for students from lower- and middle-income
families.
Yale University in New Haven, Conn., received two grants totaling more than $1.1 million from Lilly Endowment Inc., in support of projects at the Institute of Sacred Music and the Divinity School. The grants will help fund the study of liturgical practices at the Institute of Sacred Music and the use of information technology in the classroom at the Divinity School.
