Five Finalists for New Diversity Post at University of Georgia
ATHENS, Ga.
The University of Georgia has named five finalists for a new administration post in charge of diversity.
The school’s first associate provost for institutional diversity must develop a plan to promote diversity at the school, which is waging a court battle to keep race as a factor in its admissions policy.
The university wants to boost Black enrollment from 6 percent to 10 percent by 2010.
The finalists are: Ileana Arias, a University of Georgia clinical psychology professor; Carol Aisha Blackshire-Belay, an Indiana State University department chair; Marvel Lang, a Michigan State University professor; Robert Pratt, a University of Georgia history professor; and Aaron Thompson, an Eastern Kentucky University executive.
