Dr. Paul Cleary has been named dean of public health and chair of the department of epidemiology and public health at Yale University’s School of Medicine (Conn.). He was most recently a professor at Harvard University Medical School. Cleary earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from the University of Wisconsin.
Charmaine D. Clowney has been named assistant vice chancellor for diversity and multicultural affairs of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. She earned a bachelor’s from the University of South Carolina and a law degree from John Marshall Law School.
Dr. Cheryl Burgan Evans has been appointed director of graduate student diversity programs at the University of Virginia. She was previously associate dean of the graduate school at Miami University (Ohio). Evans earned a bachelor’s from Howard University, a master’s from Miami and a doctorate from The Ohio State University.
Laura Zuppo-Headley has been named director of admissions at Stetson University College of Law (Fla.). Most recently, she was assistant director at Stetson. Zuppo-Headley holds a bachelor’s from Cedar Crest College and a master’s from Keller Graduate School.
Dr. John L. Jackson Jr. has been named the first Penn Integrates Knowledge professor at the University of Pennsylvania. Jackson was most recently an associate professor at Duke University. He holds a bachelor’s from Howard University and a doctorate from Columbia University.
Chris Muñoz has been named vice president for enrollment at Rice University (Texas). He was most recently vice provost for undergraduate enrollment at Case Western Reserve University. Muñoz holds a bachelor’s from California State University-Fullerton and a master’s from the University of Oregon.
Dr. Jacob K. Olupona has been appointed professor of African and African-American studies and religion at Harvard University (Mass.). He was most recently a professor at the University of California, Davis. Olupona earned a bachelor’s from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a master’s and doctorate from Boston University.
William M. Shain has been named dean of admissions and financial aid at Bowdoin College (Maine), effective July 1. He is currently dean of undergraduate admissions at Vanderbilt University. Shain holds a bachelor’s from Princeton University and a law degree from Columbia University.
Dr. Jeffrey D. Straussman has been appointed dean of the College of Public Affairs and Policy at Rockefeller College (N.Y.). He earned a bachelor’s from Hofstra University, a master’s from Hunter College and a doctorate from the City University of New York.
