AMILCAR Amilcar Shabazz SHABAZZ has been named president of The National Council for Black Studies. Currently, he is a professor of history and Afro-American Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Shabazz received a bachelor’s degree in economics from The University of Texas at Austin, a master’s degree from Lamar University and a Ph.D. from the University of Houston.
