Daniel O. Bernstein has been named president and CEO of the Law School Admission Council. He has spent the past 10 years as president of Portland State University. Bernstein holds a bachelor’s from the University of California, Berkeley, a law degree from Northwestern University and a graduate law degree from the University of Wisconsin.

 

Niurka Aybar has been named assistant director for community relations at Northern Essex Community College-Lawrence (Mass.). She holds an associate degree from NECC and a bachelor’s from Merrimack College.

 

Dennis Camacho has been appointed director of student activities at the New York Institute of Technology-Manhattan. He was most recently assistant director of student activities at Hofstra University. Camacho earned a bachelor’s from Hofstra and two master’s degrees from Teachers College at Columbia University.

 

Dr. William V. Flores has been appointed deputy secretary of higher education for the state of New Mexico. He had most recently been executive vice president and provost at New Mexico State University. Flores holds a bachelor’s from the University of California, Los Angeles and a master’s and doctorate from Stanford University.

 

Sarah L.D. Garrett has been named dean of academic affairs at Bristol Community College (Mass.). She was previously dean of academic affairs and chief academic officer at Asnuntuck Community College. Garrett holds a bachelor’s from Morgan State University and a law degree from the University of Maryland.

 

Dr. John Hamilton has been named associate director of the California Student Opportunity and Access Program. He earned a bachelor’s from San Diego State University, a master’s from Loyola Marymount University and a doctorate from the University of La Verne.

 

Elard J. Phillips has been named vice president for business and finance and chief financial officer at Dillard University (La.). He had been a consultant for the law firm Bruno & Tervalon. Phillips earned a bachelor’s from Southern University at New Orleans and a master’s from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

 

Dr. Mary Jane Saunders has been named provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Cleveland State University. She had been serving in an interim role. Saunders earned a bachelor’s from Boston University and a doctorate from the University of Massachusetts.

 

Welch Suggs has been appointed assistant to the president at the University of Georgia. He was most recently associate director of the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics. Suggs holds a bachelor’s from Rhodes College.
