Anonymous Alum Donates $2.2 Million to Alabama A&M University

University president Dr. Andrew Hugine Jr. said the gift was “the most significant and impactful gift in the history of Alabama A&M University.”

The actual donation totaled $2,187,518.75, a reference to the year the university was created in 1875. One million dollars of the gift will be used to support athletic programming, while the remaining funds will contribute to other initiatives at the school.

The donor included a statement with the gift that said, “This is my university, and it has afforded me opportunities beyond what I could have ever imagined.”

The donor expressed a wish to honor their alma mater before President Hugine retired.
